The History of AL-KO

1931 As a 23-year old locksmith Alois Kober becomes self-employed and establishes his company in Grosskoetz, Germany.

1965 AL-KO manufacturing factory is established in Obdach, Austria. Obdach now produces most of the AL-KO Garden products.

1966 The first production of a four wheeled petrol lawn mower is developed and produced.

 

1981 Production of the first ride-on lawnmower commences with unique collection facility.

1983 Production of the first electric powered garden shredder commences.

1995 AL-KO takes over European lawnmower manufacturers Ginge and Sigma.

1995 AL-KO introduces new concept vacuum rear collect garden tractor.

2002 Rochford Garden Machinery appointed Sole UK distributor for AL-KO Garden + Hobby products.

2005 AL-KO introduce the world's first steering lawnmower, the vario.

2007 AL-KO Introduces the 4 in 1 concept high wheel petrol lawnmower.

2011 AL-KO celebrates 80th anniversary year in 2011 with many new and innovative models.
