AL-KO Cockpit Concept Takes Off

German manufacturer AL-KO have taken their popular Powerline lawnmower range to another level of quality, with the introduction of the “Cockpit” handle system. The new control system promises class leading ergonomics and comfort, combined with intuitive operation, making the AL-KO Powerline range the most user-friendly lawnmower available today.

The “Cockpit” concept features a soft touch sleeve over a steel skeleton, with soft touch OPC and drive handles which together form a flush, comfortable handle when gripped in operation. Models benefitting from adjustable engine throttle and “Vari-Speed” variable drive speed also feature separate, ergonomic easy-grip control levers which operate in an intuitive manner – simply push the “Vari-Speed” lever forward to increase drive speed and pull backwards to slow down. The new 5300BRVC ALU model incorporates a third control lever for the Blade Brake Clutch – simply shift the lever to engage drive to the cutter blade.

Ease of operation is improved further by clear user instructions integrated into the control panel – each lever features icons displaying exactly how each control is operated.

Further innovative touches including an integrated recoil holder and in-built “hidden” cables highlight the quality of finish and present a clean, premium appearance, whilst also improving the durability of the cables and preventing snagging. Aluminium adjusters also enable handle adjustment through a full range of positions to suit the operator, increasing comfort and enhancing the overall user experience.

The AL-KO Cockpit concept will be available on four Powerline lawnmowers in 2011 - 5200BRV, 4800BRV ALU, 5300BRV ALU, and 5300BRVC BBC ALU models will be first to benefit from the innovative control system.
